Rocksteady Dive Center in Palawan - Philippines
Diving is a popular water sport in Palawan and Rocksteady Dive Center can take tourists to a number of interesting dive sites around Coron in Palawan.
Rocksteady Dive Center is located in Coron, Palawan at Barangay 5, National Highway. For those will be coming from Manila, travelers can either take the plane or a ferry that brings guests to Coron.
From the airport, visitors can then take a jeepney ride or a shuttle van to reach the town of Coron. The ride will approximately take around forty-five minutes to an hour at most.
From the pier, there are tricycles that offer rides going to the town proper.
For tourists who will be coming from El Nido in Palawan, there are ferry boat rides that readily available and this would normally cost about Php 2, 200 for a one-way ride. This ride takes about six to eight hours.
Rocksteady Dive Center is managed by a German national hence; the languages mostly used for instructions are in German and English.
There are basically two courses that Rocksteady Dive Center offers tourists: Open Water, Wreck Diver, Advanced Open Water, Wreck Diver, and Open Water Diver, Scuba Diver.
For Open Water, the dive sites included in the course are the Morazán Maru shipwreck site, and the Olympia Maru site.
For Advanced Open Water, dive sites include the Kogyo Maru shipwreck site, the IJNS Irako, and IJNS Akitsushima, Okikawa Maru or what used to be known as Taiei Maru.
For beginners without deep-sea diving experiences, the Open Water Diver, Scuba Diving level explores the East Tangat Gun-Boat with a diving depth of only three meters down up to a maximum of nineteen meters.
Other diving sites for this level are the Luzon Gun Boat and the Barracuda Lake.
For two days of diving, Rocksteady Dive Center charges Php 2, 7000 per person; while three days of diving adventure will cost about Php 3, 5000 per person. The cost already includes all the equipment that guests will be needing for the diving adventure plus a torch, lunch, and beverages of beer, soda or bottled water.
The fee also includes the services of a Dive Master plus all the entry fees for the dive sites.
On the other hand, for those who have some of the equipment already on hand, Rocksteady Dive Center will deduct corresponding prices off their diving fees. For BCD and Regulator, Rocksteady Dive Center will take off Php 150 for each equipment; while a wetsuit, snorkels, mask, fins and booties will give Php 50 off for each item.
Also, for divers who wish to get additional equipment such as a bigger torch or a dive computer, this will cost an additional Php 500 each per day; while rental of snorkeling equipment will cost Php 350 per day; and rental of an underwater camera will cost Php 900 per day.
